Request for Expressions of Interest: Grant Reviewers

The Office of Grants Management (OGM) seeks qualified individuals with relevant experience to evaluate applications submitted to the various competitive grants programs throughout Fiscal Years 2024 and 2025 (ending on June 30). The grant reviewers will analyze grant applications against specific criteria and provide clear, written feedback to applicants. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about the development of Montgomery County.

Experience and Background

Grant reviewers must have expertise/experience in one or more of the following areas, specifically as they relate to the Montgomery County context:

Subject Matter Expertise in a particular field(s) - have at least 5 years of demonstrated technical (professional/volunteer/academic) expertise and/or experience in one or more technical areas.

Project Management or Administration – at least 5 years of experience developing and managing projects, grants, budgets, and/or organizations as well as reviewing grants.

Cultural competence for a particular underserved community and/or Racial Equity and Social Justice experience - be intimately familiar with community needs, current initiatives and effective approaches aimed at addressing those needs at the local level.

Grant reviewers should also:

Have intermediate proficiency in written and verbal English.

Demonstrate integrity and score applications based on set criteria

Ethically review proprietary information

Maintain confidentiality

Identify and report any conflicts of interest

Reviewer Commitment Requirements and Compensation

Reviewers will be engaged on a rolling basis throughout the year for a variety of programs.

Time commitments will vary depending on the grant program requirements and the number of assigned applications. The review process will allow about one to two weeks for review of assigned applications. Each application will take approximately 15-45 minutes to review.

All reviews will be completed within the online OGM grants portal.

All reviewers will have required training prior to participating in the review process.

Reviewers will receive $15 to $30 per application reviewed depending on the requirements of each grant program and the size of the applications.

How to Apply

Prospective reviewers should visit the Office of Grants Management website to learn about Notice of Funding Opportunity Announcements (NOFOs) and find out more about the topic areas. If you have specific, documented experience in these areas, it may greatly increase the likelihood that OGM will select you as a reviewer. For OGM to consider you as a grant reviewer, you should submit an application through this portal. You may draft your responses offline in the Word and PDF applications; you would then have to copy and paste them into the online portal application. The Word version of the application is available for download through this link.  The PDF version of the application is available through this link
